God Is Eternal

Psalm 90:2.

God created the heavens, the earth, the oceans, and every living creature in them, including human beings. God created the stars, the galaxies, the universe, and all reality. Even time is God’s creation.

God existed long before He created any of them, and God will continue to exist long after they are gone: for there never was a time when God did not exist, nor will there ever be a time when God does not exist. God exists from eternity unto eternity.

God is eternal. For this reason, time is relative to Him: a thousand years are to Him like a day, or even like a fraction of a night. God is not subject to time.

  • Why should God’s eternity cause us to feel awe before Him?
  • Why should God’s eternity motivate us to trust in God?
  • Does it make sense to believe that God had not beginning?

Lord, I am filled with fear and wonder when I reflect that you are eternal. I am not eternal, and nothing in nature is eternal; but you, Lord, are eternal (you alone!). I praise you for who you are, and I humble myself before you to worship you. I am encouraged to put my trust in you, who lives forever.
